Stephanie Rieper and Lyndsey Dockins
Born 9 years and a few months apart, Stephanie and Lyndsey have always had a special bond as sisters, one that as they grew older they realized many people are not lucky enough to have with their siblings. They were raised in a strong faith-filled Christian home by parents Gerald and JoAnn Spriggs with their brother, Robert Spriggs between them in age. The two shared a room until Stephanie got married and have always shared similar tastes in food, clothes, jewelry, purses, music and other interests.
As adults, both have felt called to serve and lead in ministry. Stephanie felt a call on her life into some sort of ministry as a young teen, but never really gave it much more thought until early in the Spring of 2012 when she heard God tell her that she needed to pursue a ministry of teaching and leading women. Not knowing where to start, Stephanie began writing a Christian blog, began leading a ladies’ Bible study and started putting together ideas for a possible book. Nothing really seemed to be clicking as far as ministry opportunities, but being obedient was her focus.
Lyndsey also felt a similar call on her life. She worked as a volunteer coordinator for her local church focusing on the children’s ministry. After several years of volunteer and part-time work, the church added Lyndsey to their staff as a children’s ministry director. She loves organizing and working with the children, but her heart is drawn to their mommas, grandma’s, aunts; the women of the church. Stepping out in fear, trembling and faith, Lyndsey agreed to speak at a women’s retreat for her church in the Spring of 2017.
Fast forward to September 30, 2016. Although the sisters live over 4 hours apart, they decided to attend a Christian women’s conference that weekend together and volunteer to work at one of the booths. Not only were they filled with encouragement and wisdom from some wonderful musicians and speakers, Stephanie and Lyndsey enjoyed time of worshipping together as well as just talking about life and passions. Both felt led to talk about their desire for ministering and teaching women with the other, but both were hesitant out of fear of “stealing the other’s’ thunder” so to speak. Once one mentioned it to the other, and they had the divine thought to combine efforts, God just started putting the puzzle pieces into place. Within a week, they had booked 5 speaking engagements for the Spring of 2017. Of course the full panoramic view of the future has not been revealed, but the details have been so divinely woven that both are beyond excited to see what God has in store for their ministry next. They hope to enrich and impact the lives of women through teaching and encouragement from the Word of God and their experiences in the faith. The focus of Spriggs of Faith Ministries is a Kingdom focus of drawing more and more women into a meaningful relationship with the Savior.
The sisters are currently working to complete several studies to ultimately be published with video sessions for women’s Bible study groups. God really can use your weaknesses to highlight His strength! Stephanie struggles with self-diagnosed “awkward-in-front-of-other-women syndrome” and can become very introverted, and therefore speaking and leading, especially in front of a crowd, although exhilarating, is also terrifying for her. Lyndsey is dyslexic and therefore writing, especially to be published for others, although exhilarating is also terrifying for her. In the process both have realized that their weaknesses and strengths complement each other and magnify the amazing beauty of God’s plan. Their prayer for every woman they encounter is that somehow through their weakness, they will be the vehicle of God, used to draw women to Him and to their purpose in Him.
